Tell us about yourself and your career as an artist.

I enjoyed 46 years of a creative career as a textile, surface, and product designer. I worked directly with print manufacturers and cut-and-sew manufacturers. One key factor in anything I designed was the colors. A great design poorly colored won’t sell. A mediocre design colored well will sell.

During my career I designed commercial and residential wallcovering collections, as well as a variety of home furnishings like bed ensembles and decorative pillows. In the last nine years of my career, I designed in-ground pool liners. I became proficient at designing and color-separating my art on the computer—an exciting new creative tool.

It wasn’t until I retired that I began to create artwork just because of my passion to express myself and share my work with others. Creating for sales is no longer my mission. I am no longer required to restrict myself to others' needs and opinions.

I’m free to be me! My imagination is endless! If I get recognition, I'm excited; it feels wonderful. If I sell my artwork, I’m thrilled. Recently I received my first award, which was extremely encouraging. I’m loving life and growing every day.
